Hi! I’m Bek, short for Rebekah Maurice. I am an artist, an illustrator and designer. I started my business Bek Design while I was going through a difficult time with my mental health. I started drawing the phrases that were helping me through it. Phrases like “There is Beauty in the Struggle” which was something my best-friend said to me at the time. I started posting and selling that work hoping that the words that helped me would help others. That was always the intention of my business and it evolved with me. As I started to do better my work changed to be more colourful and optimistic while still focusing on mental health and trying to uplift others. My work is deeply rooted in my own journey and I am often inspired by meaningful conversations with friends and fellow artists. I studied design and illustration in the IDEA program at Capilano University and got to meet so many amazing artists, my work grew from their influence. While in school I kept slowly building my online shop and began doing markets. I’ve since participated in Circle Craft, Make It, Got Craft, Fall for Local, Eastside Flea and more. I look forward to continuing to hone my craft and add new product lines and customers.
